Clarence R. “Cal” Dush, 87, of 5225 Grant Road, Ridgway, died Sunday, June 19, 2011. He was born October 4, 1923, in Ridgway, the son of the late George R. and Ida E. Dallenbach Dush. On June 15, 1946, he married his wife of 65 years, June N. Fassette, who survives.
Cal was a lifelong Ridgway resident. He was a member of the Faith United Church of Christ. He was also a member of the American Legion, Elks, and the Ridgway Rifle Club. He supported the Boy Scouts, Troop 93. He had been employed at IPM for 15 years and at Exotic Metals, where he retired in 1988. He had served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII, in Hawaii and Guam. His hobbies included golfing, hunting, rifle club, spending time with his family and sitting on his porch visiting. He especially enjoyed supporting his granddaughters in their various activities.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Allen Dush of Ridgway, Rebecca Fowler (Chas) of Gerrardstown, W.V., and Laurie Curtis (Lee) of Columbus, Pa; five granddaughters, Dina Dush (fiance Ethan White), Maura Fowler, Jennah Fowler, Jennilea Curtis, and Leah Curtis; four siblings, Dorothy Redmond of Wilcox, Ted Dush (Edie) of Vermilion, Ohio, Alice Sloan (Paul) of Natrona Heights, and Bob Dush of Ridgway; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Ernest, James, and a brother in infancy; a daughter-in-law, Marie Dush; and by a sister-in-law, Alena Dush.
Funeral and committal services for Clarence R. "Cal" Dush will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Ronald Burkett of the Hallton Church. Interment will be in Wardvale Cemetery.
Military honors will be accorded by the Ridgway Military Honor Detail.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Boy Scout Troop 93 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
