John R. Gigliotti, 66, of 620 First Ave., Johnsonburg, died Thursday afternoon, May 5, 2011, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a lengthy illness.
He was born May 11, 1944 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Guiseppe and Frances Carino Gigliotti.
He resided in Johnsonburg all his life and attended Johnsonburg High School.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Prince of Piedmont Club, Central Hose Co. and the Johnsonburg Elks Club.
He was employed by Domtar for 25 years before retiring in May of 2006. He had also worked at St. Marys Carbon Co. in St. Marys for five years and the Market Basket Grocery Store in Johnsonburg for several years.
He is survived by a daughter, Amy, Mrs. Matt Nedrow of Bellfonte; two grandchildren, Jack and Samantha Nedrow; his longtime companion, Domasetta Dilley of Johnsonburg; six brothers, George Gigliotti of Montclair, Calif., Edward D. Gigliotti of Johnsonburg, Thomas Gigliotti and his wife Mary Ellen of Horseheads, N.Y., Robert J. Gigliotti and his wife Medina of Angel City, the Phillippines, Ronald W. Gigliotti and his wife Ann of Murrayville, Ky., and David Gigliotti and his wife Linda of Johnsonburg; five sisters, Lucy, Mrs. Joseph Fedorko of Bradford, Julia, Mrs. Roy DeFranco of Johnsonburg, Mary, Mrs. Andrew Camardo of Brook Park, Ohio, Barbara, Mrs. Dave FitzSimmons of Dana Pt., Calif., and Kathy, Mrs. Steve Scanish of Kersey; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Gigliotti and Connie Gigliotti; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Frank, Joseph, Stephen and Battiste Gigliotti, brother Michael Gigliotti in Vietnam and brother Tomaso in infancy; and two sisters, Helen Costanzo and Margaret M. Gigliotti.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for John R. Gigliotti to be conducted at Holy Rosary Church on Monday at 10 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor.
Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Visitation will be private.
