Corabel Nelson Weissenfluh, 92, of 432 Kearsarge Ave., Ridgway, died Saturday morning, March 26, 2011, at her residence. She was born May 2, 1918 in Warren, daughter of the late Arnold C. and Agnes (Halberg) Nelson. She married Lyle E. Weissenfluh on Aug. 21, 1942; he preceded in her death on July 28, 1999.
She had resided in Ridgway for most of her life and was a member of the Faith United Church of Christ where she directed the choir for many years and was a teacher of piano. She moved to Ridgway in 1923 where she attended the public schools from which she graduated in 1935.
Mrs. Weissenfluh received her B.S. degree in music education from Indiana State Teachers College in 1940. She taught in the schools of Washington Township, Jefferson County and in the pubic schools of Brockway and Ridgway.
She is survived by one daughter, Kristen L. Weber and her husband Van of Johnsonburg; one son, Eric L. Weissenfluh and his wife Brenda of Johnsonburg; and five grandchildren, Erika Weissenfluh, Lindsey Davis, Abby Jastrab, Zachary Weber and Nathan Weber. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother in infancy, Myron Nelson.
Funeral services for Corabel Nelson Weissenfluh will be private. Officiating will be Rev. J. Stephen Fair, Pastor of the Faith United Church of Christ.
Burial will follow at Ott Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
