Harold J. “Harry” Trievel, 76, of 531 85th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg.
He was born Dec. 22, 1934, in Philadelphia, son of the late Harold M. and Rose M. Higgins Trievel.
On July 12, 1958, he married Concilia M. Martino, who preceded him in death on July 14, 2007.
He had been a Florida resident for 25 years, while also spending a great deal of time in Ridgway. Prior to Florida, he resided in Philadelphia and then Ridgway. He was an Air Force veteran prior to becoming a K-9 Police Officer in Philadelphia, eventually retiring to Ridgway in 1975. He was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Holy Family Catholic Church (FL), the Knights of Columbus, the Sons of Italy, the American Legion, and the Elks Lodge. His other interests included spending time with his family and friends, as well as hunting and fishing.
He is survived by four children, Karen (Olivio) Casale, Colleen (Brian) Kesneck, Carol (Daniel) Feeley, and Joseph Trievel (Susan), all of St. Petersburg; seven grandchildren, Michael, Jenna, Sara, Erin, Ryan, Joey, and Vincent: two great-granddaughters, Kara and Mikayla; a sister, Mrs. (Gordon) Rosemary Bennett of Philadelphia, a brother, James Trievel of Vermont; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael, and two brothers, Thomas and Joseph.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Harold J. Trievel will be celebrated at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Kersey on Saturday at 12 p.m., with Fr. Brian Vossler, pastor of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends will be received at the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. The Elks Lodge of Sorrow will be held in the funeral home on Friday evening at 6:45 p.m.
Military honors will be accorded by the Ridgway Military Honor Detail.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Ridgway; or to Holy Family Catholic School, St. Petersburg, FL.
