Ridgway wrestling coach Gary Gerber earned his 400th career coaching win at the Towanda Duals Saturday.
Gerber's 400th win came as the Elkers opened the Duals with a 41-24 victory over Milton.
"It felt great," Gerber said. "It's been great to be a part of Ridgway wrestling."
Ridgway finished with a 4-1 record in Towanda.
"The kids wrestled well all weekend," Gerber said. "We beat Port Allegany, another good team in the district and Towanda was a tough team."
Ridgway followed with a 45-22 win against Honesdale in the team's second match and a 47-18 win over Montoursville in the third match. The Elkers then secured a 41-17 victory over Port Allegany, a District 9 rival. This was Ridgway's second dual win of the season over the Gators.
Ridgway lost 40-23 to Towanda in the team's final dual match of the day. Chad Quail earned a decision victory at 215 and Corey Bush won via technical fall at 119. Dakota Dahler won a decision at 130 as did Kyle Caggiano at 140. Jake Himes scored a decision win at 152 and D.J. Skraba won via pinfall at 160 pounds. Towanda coach Bill Sexton also had a milestone victory, claiming his 500th career win in the adjacent mat when Gerber reached win No. 400.
"The kids wrestled hard all weekend," Gerber said. "It was a good weekend all around. The people at Towanda were very gracious."
Ridgway is 6-2 in dual meets this season. Ridgway is at Punxsutawney Thursday.
