Margaret H. "Mag" Pauline, 69, of 936 Fern Rd., St. Marys, died unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010 at the Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born Aug. 11, 1941, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Raymond and Gertrude Simbeck Hannibal. On June 23, 1962, in the Sacred Heart Church, she married John R. "Jack" Pauline, who survives.
Mrs. Pauline was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1959. She retired from the Brock Tax Service. She was a member of Queen of the World Church. She was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who always made you feel welcome and loved. To know Mag is to remember the smiling face and a true beauty that shined inside and out. Mag gave life a better quality for all those who knew her and for many others who were never blessed with the opportunity.
Her care, concern and genuine respect for many servicemen and women was shown through her many letters and thousands of hours she devoted to the Letters From Home project and these individuals. Many families were touched by her generous gifts of time, donations and smiles throughout the years and especially during the holidays.
One of her soft spots was for the Elk County Humane Society, caring for and supporting those sheltered there.
Her ultimate gift was through her organ donation, where Mag continues to show her unselfish love for others, even after life.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Lynn Young of St. Marys and Jackie Candalor and her husband, David, of St. Marys; a son, Ken Pauline and his wife, Kim, of Ridgway; four grandchildren, Jason Young, Jennifer Young, Megan Pauline and Lindsey Pauline; two sisters, Barbara Betta and her husband, Jim, of Weedville and Catherine Schneider and her husband, Ron, of St. Marys; and her loving dog Coco.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Ann Pauline in April 1964; a brother, Raymond Hannibal, at birth; and a son-in-law, Merlin Young, in May 2010.
