RIDGWAY - The Salvation Army in Ridgway will continue to shoot for the sky as Lieutenant Esther Wilson, Core Officer, takes the reins at the church and community center.
A third-generation Salvationist, Wilson went into the training school in Suffern, N.Y., roughly 45 minutes away from New York City, and her first appointment in Ridgway started back in July.
"As an ordained minister, the Salvation Army is a church, first and foremost," Wilson said. "Everything that we do is based on the love of God and the love that He has for us, and we extend that to the community.
"This path is definitely a higher calling from God and it's just something that I knew in my heart of hearts that this is what He wanted me to do."
