William Leonard (Len) Anderson

William Leonard (Len) Anderson, age 89, of Millcreek, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Erie VA Medical Center. Len was born in Ridgway, Pa. on February 26, 1921 a son of the late Anders G. and Hulda Strom Anderson. He was a 1940 graduate of Ridgway High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps. He was a crew chief on the B-17 and completed his service in 1946 as a Staff Sergeant.
Len was a purchasing agent at Erie Technological Products. He was a member of Lawrence Lodge No. 708 F.&A.M., a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Erie, and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he served as Elder and Usher. Len was an avid sports fan. He cherished any time that he could spend with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters Edythe Buehler, Helen Legacy and Jeanette Diehl and brothers Clifford and Donald Anderson and his son-in-law, Buddy Baxter.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years Frances Johnson Anderson, two daughters; Janelle Baxter and Lorie Miller (Bruce) of Erie, three grandchildren; Brian Baxter, of Erie, Kristen Glass (Roman) of Leland, NC and Andrew Miller (fiancé, Julie Stancliff) of Erie and three great grandchildren, Alexis, Gia and Levi Glass. Len is also survived by a brother Frederick Anderson of Lake Royal, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Monday from 2 to 6 p.m. and are invited to a service there on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
