William L. Jacob

William L. Jacob, 94, of Silver Creek Terrace, St. Marys, died Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Elk Regional Health Center.
He was born October 4, 1916, in St. Marys, son of the late A. Thomas and Catherine Kriegel Jacob. He married Rose McLeod and she preceded him in death on May 6, 1979. He then married Virginia Richards and she preceded him in death on January 2, 1995.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1934. He was a self-employed plasterer.
He was a Catholic by faith, was a veteran of WWII, having served in the Army in Africa, Sicily, and Italy, was a recipient of the Purple Heart, was a member of the American Legion, and loved his family and the outdoors.
He is survived by three daughters, Jean Kamats (Donald) of Springville, N.Y., Barbara Neubert (George) of St. Marys, and Susan Hess of Pickerington, Ohio; three stepsons, Frank Richards, Harry Richards and Charles Richards; five grandchildren, Joel Kamats, Kimberly Kamats, Anne Brobst, Laura Smith and Bill Hess; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Monica Piccolo of St. Marys.
He was preceded in death by six sisters, Helen Salter, Mirium Gump, Ethel Lecker, Valeria Murray, Ruth Benninger, and Bertha Jacob; and by a brother, Leo Jacob.
A Mass of Christian burial for William L. Jacob will be celebrated in the St. Mary's Church on Saturday, August 27 at noon, with the Rev. Eric Vogt, O.S.B., as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.
