BIG RUN - A Big Run citizen apparently made a complaint about the Uniform Construction Code (UCC) claiming that Laura Lantz, Big Run tax collector's office is not handicap-accessible.
Lantz, who attended Big Run Borough Council meeting Monday, said she has two people coming from the UCC office at 3 p.m. Thursday, and requested that a council member be present.
Council members agreed that there was nothing more Lantz could do short of re-constructing her whole house. The complainant, according to Lantz, is not handicapped.
Also this week, council is looking for a winter recreation director to supervise a recreational program for children at the Big Run War Memorial, from January through February, two or three nights per week.
Anyone interested in the supervisory position should call Michelle Muth at 427-4427.
In other business: ? Sewage contractors who originally fixed the Big Run Ball Field smoothed it over and seeded it, only to have an unknown person or persons ruin the field up with all-terrain vehicles.
The contractors said they would fix the field again, according to Muth, and the borough will protect it with a fence once it is finished.
Also regarding the ball field, Solicitor Ted Hudock said a lease agreement regarding the Jack Buffington property has been mailed to him.
Council signed copies of the agreement, which pertains to a very small sect of land at the ball field that holds the concession building. ? Council member Nick Lantz said there have been numerous complaints about four-wheelers and dirt bikes using the flood plane area and Big Run roads at all hours of the night.
State police told council earlier that if it became a problem, members should contact police and take names if possible. Police would then respond. ? The annual budget meeting for Big Run has been set for 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6.
? Halloween night has been set for Tuesday, Oct. 31, in Big Run.
Mayor Joe Buterbaugh asked residents to turn on their front porch lights to welcome trick-or-treaters from 6 to 8 p.m.
The next Big Run Borough meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20. |
