The Lady Crusaders of Elk County Catholic kept their slate clean on Tuesday afternoon as they handed the Ridgway Lady Elkers a 65-35 setback in the opening game of the Elk County Holiday Tournament being held at the “Dutch Oven” at the St. Marys Area High School. With the victory the Lady Crusaders will now take on the St. Marys Area Lady Dutch tonight for the tournament title.
“I was pleased with our overall play today,” said ECCHS coach Ken Pistner. “I feel all the girls contributed today and played pretty well. One of our goals for this game was to keep out turnovers under 15 and we accomplished that as he turned the ball over only 10 times in the game.
“Defensively, we weren’t as sharp in the first half as I would have liked us to be, but in the second half the girls stepped it up and shut down the Ridgway offense as they allowed the Lady Elkers only 12 second half points.”
