By Joseph Bell Staff Writer BROCKPORT – Horton Township supervisors discussed the status of a state Route 153 water project which is currently in early planning stages last night during their monthly board meeting. “I checked with CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) money and they can give it to us for that but the most that they have is like $50,000,” supervisor Dennis Thompson said during the 10-minute meeting. “I asked if we can apply for that now and we can but if we apply for it, it’s set aside for only so many years, a couple of years, one or two, I’m not sure but it’s not very long. “Until you get financing, the other $400,000, then apply for that.” According to fellow supervisor John Carlson, officials cannot provide any concrete information regarding the future project. “Right now, we can’t say anything for sure because we don’t know,” Carlson said. “We haven’t forgot about it. We already had that engineer over there but that’s going to change too, like politics, sure we have engineers but I know what’s coming down the line. “This country’s going to hell in a hand basket and you need an engineer to tell you to move a stake from here to here, that’s what happens. I won’t beat around the bush about it because it’s a fact. You can see what’s going on.” The costs associated with the project are estimated at $450,000. “We’re working on it,” Carlson said. “Brockway (Municipal Authority) is willing to do it we just have to come up with the money.” The potential project pertains to a water connection but not sewage. “We don’t have enough money for the sewage,” Carlson said. |
