Pitching and defense ultimately did the trick for Ridgway last night.
Josh Mitchell threw a complete-game shutout and Ridgway committed just one error in a 5-0 win over Warren at the Ridgway Little League fields.

Warren blew Ridgway out in last year's all-star competition and Ridgway coach Doug Mitchell said it was a good win for the Ridgway team.
"To come back after last year, it was great just to come back and beat Warren," coach Mitchell said.
Josh Mitchell struck out nine and punctuated the victory by striking out Brad Walters on a 2-2 fastball looking to end it. Warren only got three hits in the game, two in the sixth inning.
"Josh pitched a whale of a game, that's two great pitching games in a row," coach Mitchell said. "When you get a pitching exhibition like that, he had those kids so off-balance and everything was working for him. That was the first time he's pitched in a month and a half. He looked good, he looked really good."
Coach Mitchell said Ridgway's defense was key in the victory.
"When you play defense like that. I think we only had one error but I'm telling you what, defensively the kids are really, really playing well," coach Mitchell said. "It's fun coaching them, it really is. It's fun coaching these guys."
Ridgway took the lead in the first inning as Jesse Reynolds singled and then stole second and third. Josh Mitchell singled to score Reynolds and put Ridgway ahead 1-0.
Ridgway could not build on the lead until the fifth inning. Ridgway left two on base in the second and third innings and coach Mitchell felt those were missed chances.
Warren had a chance to tie the game in the fifth as Caleb Linkerho reached on a dropped third strike. He would eventually get to third base with two outs but a groundout from Taylor Peterson would put an end to Warren's rally.
The home half of the fifth would see Ridgway build on the lead. Reynolds singled to lead off the inning and Slade Horner would reach on an infield single. A throwing error on the play would move Reynolds to third. Horner took second on defensive indifference and Mitchell would line a two-run single to center to score Horner and Reynolds. He would finish 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.
Mitchell stole second and scored on a single from John Wildnauer. Wildnauer came around to score as Jake Klawuhn reached base on a Warren throwing error for Ridgway's fifth run.
Ridgway struck out just once for the game and coach Mitchell said being able to put the ball in play added pressure to Warren's defense.
"That's what I always tell these kids," coach Mitchell said. "Put the ball in play and good things happen. You strike out, you don't get anything from that. Anything can happen when you put the ball on the ground, you can get a base hit, bad throws, anything like that."
Ridgway had seven players record hits. Mitchell and Reynolds each stole two bases.
Coach Mitchell credited Warren's team for a tough effort and thinks Ridgway might see Warren again.
"It was a tough game, Warren played well," coach Mitchell said. "They had a good pitcher going. We left a lot of guys on base in those first few innings."
Ridgway is at Johnsonburg for a 6 p.m. game on Monday night.
