During the Wilcox festivities, Daniel R. Freeburg, Elk County Commissioner, gave a brief speech about Memorial Day and the recent acquisition of the Disabled American Veterans van to transport veterans in need. "The DAV van from Elk County is here today," Freeburg said. "This is one of two of the vehicles to transport all veterans. This is a project that has been going on for quite awhile. I am proud to present the DAV transportation in Elk County. My heart goes out to everyone involved in this worthwhile project." Freeburg stood in front of the Wilcox honor roll, and he stated it is something that sometimes misses recognition. "The honor roll is something we need to remember to do as members of the community," Freeburg said. "It was erected by a grateful community. That is why we are all here today." |
