Ridgway Township’s Municipal Authority members reviewed a graph last night which indicated how the water system fared with extensive use against a fire in mid–December.
According to Works Superintendent Carl Gosnell, the system performed well.
“It is a representation of how our system reacted to a fire event back on Dec. 17,” Gosnell said. “There was a fire in the Township up on Water Works Road. The pink line represents the level on the Evergreen tank and the blue line indicates the pressure in what we call the ‘Fairview system.’ You can see how the system reacted to the use of two hydrants initially and then one hydrant most of the time.”
Gosnell also said that, in the month of December, a new water system was installed for a customer residing along Evergreen Drive.
In an extensive financial report, Jeff Schutz explained several new bills that the authority paid.
“We paid the auditor $3,475, we pay them about once a year,” Schutz said, indicating the figure forwarded to ‘Brooks & Rhoads.’
According to Schutz, the authority had a beginning balance of $20,182.03 while depositing $89,382.56.
“Total funds available was $109,564.59 and we disbursed $79,065.68 and we had an ending balance in the checkbook of $30,498.91,” Schutz said. “We had an increase in funds of $10,316.88.”
Examining the CNB-Checking (water project) account, Schutz said he was going to dip into those funds to pay off the remainder of the audit.
“I am going to pay the other part of the audit, $850, with that money,” Schutz said. Before the withdrawal, the account totaled $1,218.10.
For the engineer’s report, Richard Wray indicated that there was no change in the status from PENNVEST.
“Relevant to the project, we need to have a meeting between now and the next meeting, actually the second week of February, with Greenland, on a follow-up maintenance meeting to make sure that our list of efficient items, due to either seasonal or other problems that could not be completed, are on this one-year list, so that the clock on those items starts for one year after those repairs are made,” Wray said. “So that is a requirement and we do need to get the contractor on site for a review of those items.”
The members later retired to an executive session which, according to chairman Ed LaValle, covered both personnel and litigation issues.
Ridgway Township’s Municipal Authority is scheduled to meet again Thursday, Feb. 5 at the Ridgway Township Building.
