New Year's events happening around the area.
By Heather Tressler Record Staff Writer The New Year is just hours away, and there are numerous ways to ring in the new year. While some will choose to stay at home and celebrate, there are a few events happening within Elk County for those interested in ringing in the New Year at local events. Because of the inclement weather on Christmas Eve, the Wilcox Holiday Lighting Committee will be lighting their luminaries at 4 p.m. today. At this time they will begin displaying the luminaries along Marvin Street in Wilcox, and as 6 p.m. approaches, they will begin to ignite the wicks. For those who are seeking a little more excitement, the Johnsonburg Fire Department will be hosting a New Year’s Eve dance at their social hall from 9 p.m. till 1 a.m. this evening. Performing live will be Crazy Jacks. The Fire Department reminds that the doors will open at 8 p.m. and there is a cover charge. There will also be a cash bar, and there is no bring your own beverage. In addition, you must be 21 years of age of older to attend, and ID is required. |
