North Central honors with awards at annual dinner |

By Heather Tressler The North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission awarded a few awards at their 42nd annual dinner last night at the Red Fern in Kersey.
The awards were as follows: 2008 manufacturer of the year, 2008 outstanding workforce partner of the year, two appreciation awards, and 2008 board member of the year award. The first award to be given was to State Senator Joseph Scarnati for all of the hard work he has put into the state. The award he was given was an appreciation award to show gratitude for his diligence. The second award was the 2008 manufacturer of the year. The recipient was Matson Lumber. Matson Lumber is a family owned business, currently operating on its ninth generation. They export to 26 different countries, and they employee over 120 people. Richard Conti, the president accepted the award. The next award given was another appreciation award to Debra London, planning director of McKean County. London is a McKean County Commissioner who has only missed a few meetings in her career, said Robert Rusiewski. Susan Snelick, director of the Workforce Investment Board presented the 2008 outstanding workforce partner of the year award. The award went to Kathy Grove, a clinical services director. Snelick said that Grove won the award for her effort, help recruiting, facilitating training and many more. Last but not least was the 2008 board member award presented by Executive Director, Eric Bridges. The recipient of this year’s award went to Carole Harshbarger. Bridges said that Harshbarger is truly committed and passionate about the work that she does. Upon receipt of the award, Harshbarger said a few words. “This came as a huge surprise,” Harshbarger said. “I want to acknowledge everyone, and I enjoyed every minute of my time spent at North Central.” |
