The Salary Board met yesterday morning to discuss pay increases for several county positions.
By Joseph Bell Record Staff Writer Following yesterday's Elk County Commissioners meeting, the Salary Board convened and discussed several pay increases for various county offices. According to Elk County Commissioner June H. Sorg, the judge (the Honorable Richard Masson, President Judge) was not available. "But he asked that we entertain these motions," Sorg said. Under judicial, the Domestic Relations office listed three separate positions which were effected. First, the Secretary/Docketing Clerk position was changed from a level three position to a level five position. According to the agenda, this position will move to a probationary salary of $17,898.31 with a five-percent increase after six months. The PASCES Administrator/Financial Manager position changed to a level seven position. The position was previously level six. The change will increase the pay by five percent. However, 2.5 percent will be awarded as of yesterday while the remainder of the increase will be awarded after six months per the Merit Review Guide. The last Domestic Relations office position to be impacted was PASCES Tech, which has been renamed as Case Manager/Customer Service. Previously a level six position, the newly-implemented change will up the position to level eight. Sorg said the position will move to the probationary salary of $20,719.52 with a five-percent increase following an immediate six-month period. The board approved the increases to the three positions. Under the commissioners, the Elections Office listed two positions, however, the commissioners voted to table the Registrar position until the next advertised meeting. In regards to the Director of Elections, the position shall shift from level 10 to level 11, thus garnering a five-percent increase. However, 2.5 percent of the increase was immediately awarded as of yesterday and the remainder will be awarded after six months per the Merit Review Guide. From the Assessment Office, the Chief Assessor/Director of Tax Claim position will go from level 13 to level 14. The position shall receive a five-percent increase. 2.5 percent of the increase was awarded yesterday and the remainder will be awarded after six months per the Merit Review Guide. Also, Office Manager was changed from level six to level seven. This position shall receive a five-percent increase effective as of yesterday. Regarding the increase, 2.5 percent was immediately rewarded and the remainder will be rewarded after six months per the Merit Review Guide. The last position, Occupation Assessor/Tax Claim Clerk, was tabled. Elk County Commissioner Daniel R. Freeburg said the six-month period attached to the effected positions serves as a probationary period. |
