The Ridgway Rifle Club Junior Rifle Team is proud to represent the Edward Lehman Post 467 American Legion of Wilcox, and expresses its appreciation to them for their generous support.
The Junior Rifle Team has had quite an eventful shooting season, and it has earned them a very busy summer. Their performances in postal and regional qualifiers has been rewarded with invitations to numerous National Championships around the country this summer. The team is made up of Mitchell Gennocro, Aaron Holsopple, Emily Holsopple, Cynthia Jackson, Mikayla Jackson, Peter Timashenka, Doug Urmann, Jack Urmann, and Jimmy Wright. They had many great individual and team accomplishments and awards. Here are just a few.
As a team they qualified at the PA State Junior Olympics for 3 Position Air Rifle to represent Pennsylvania at the National Junior Olympics to be held in Anniston Alabama in July.
Competing in The American Legion Postal Competition the team earned a seventh place out of 58 teams from across the country after two rounds of competition.
In the individual phase of the Legion Postal competition Aaron Holsopple finished seventh after two rounds of shooting. This earned him a trip to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado in August for the championship round of matches among the top fifteen shooters in the country.
The AMU (Army Marksmanship Unit) also conducts a postal match in which the Ridgway Jr. Team competed and finished tied for eleventh out of seventy teams. This performance gained them an invitation to compete at Ft. Benning GA. in the AMU National Championship Air Rifle Matches in August. As an individual in the AMU Postal Emily Holsopple won the overall for the second straight year.
On other individual notes Aaron Holsopple and Jack Urmann were invited, and will be competing as part of The Pennsylvania State Team at the NRA 3 Position Air Rifle National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa in June.
Jimmy Wright and Cynthia Jackson placed at the

NRA Jr. Sectionals held in Palmyra last month. Cynthia placed second in the Sub Junior category in 3 position air rifle. Jimmy placed third in 3 position air rifle and first in International air rifle, both in the Intermediate Junior category.
Some of the team members will also be traveling to Camp Perry, Ohio to compete in the NRA National Smallbore Championships held in July.
Without the help of the Ridgway Rifle Club, The Friends of the NRA, Pennsylvania Pistol and Rifle Association, the Wilcox Legion, and most of all the parents, these young shooters would not have these great opportunities to show what they can do.

The names for the picture fom left to right are: Brett Ferguson ( Commander of the Legion)presenting the donation to Emily Holsopple.
