RIDGWAY - The Ridgway YMCA Child Care facility is proud to announce that it has achieved a STAR 2 rating in Keystone STARS. Keystone STARS is Pennsylvania’s voluntary program for improving the quality of child care. Through Keystone STARS, a child care provider works to increase its standard of care above the state’s minimum health and safely licensing regulations. Research shows that quality child care increases a child’s learning skills and school readiness level. Ridgway YMCA Child Care’s goal is to provide the best child care possible, and Keystone STARS, Standards, Training, Assistance, Resources, and Supports (STARS) to help us meet this goal. STARS established a quality rating system beginning with the Start with STARS level, and progressing from a STAR One to a STAR Four designation. Each STAR designation has its own researched-based performance standards in three areas: Staff education, the learning environment and administration. This is the first center in Elk County to receive a STAR Two rating. The Ridgway YMCA Child Care is located at the Francis S. Grandinetti School. Their hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There is a school age program that includes both before school and after school programs. There is also a preschool program. This summer, the YMCA will have three weeks of preschool summer camp again this year.
