The North Central Board of Directors met yesterday.

The meeting began with introductions of all present. The election of officers such as Chairman, First Vice Chair, and Second Vice Chair have all been moved to the April board meeting. However, the appointment of secretary/treasurer was approved. The secretary/treasurer will continue to be Carol Hershberger who has held this position for many years.
The Executive Director, Eric Bridges, delivered his report.
Bridges discussed the importance of ITEC to the community and the surrounding areas.
“There is a critical need for industry,” he said. “ITEC supports a vocational curriculum in the area. Also, PMI has developed a factory institute out of Weedville, and they are a great model for the workforce. PMI can provide the training that is best suited to help us long term.”
Susan Snelick, Director of Workforce Investment Board, discussed the ongoing tasks of the Workforce Investment Board. The Workforce Investment Board consists of 40 members, with three members from each county on the board, and six regional appointments.
"The board in place is to provide leadership to the programs we offer," Snelick said. “We reach out to the youth in and out of schools; our goal is to get people into the workforce."
The meeting was then brought to adjournment.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Teleconference Room at North Central.
