With impressive turnouts for the first two years, YMCA officials and various volunteers from the community are looking forward to the third annual "Kids Triathlon" scheduled for Saturday, July 30 at 11 a.m.
"This is a great event for our local youths," said Mary Lynne Bellotti, executive director of the Ridgway YMCA. "We are once again pleased to be able to put it together.
"There are several different age groups for both boys and girls and each event is designed to fit that age group."
The order of events will be swim, bike and run, and the triathlon is an individual event. Each individual will swim, bike and run. Just outside the back door of the swimming pool, there will be an area designated for drying feet, and putting on socks and shoes.
Each triathlete will select a space in the transition area for their bike and other gear. The transition area will be located in the parking lot behind the Ridgway Armory. Parents may not physically assist their children during the race.
