"Sustaining Campaign" begins
The Ridgway YMCA will again rely on donations for this year's "Sustaining Campaign" in an effort to continue to provide various programs and sustain the popular North Broad Street location in downtown Ridgway."Our small town YMCA offers as many programs as larger YMCAs at the fraction of the cost and we are able to do this with the help of this campaign," said Mary Lynne Bellotti, executive director of the Ridgway YMCA. "Our YMCA is a unique little YMCA-- we take pride in being able to offer something for everyone."The YMCA strives to help families grow together through developmental programs that build and strengthen families while providing community services; the YMCA encourages family togetherness and parental involvement. "The YMCA of Ridgway is the leader in programs that improve quality of life and nurture the health and wellness of all," Bellotti said. "That’s why our programs and services teach people of all ages the healthy benefits of a healthy lifestyle."Whether it is swim lessons or daycare for our young at heart, a fitness class or a Silver Sneakers class for our active older adults or the many other programs for everyone in between, we truly have something for everyone."During the past year, facility officials have expanded the classes that are offered free to the members. "We are now offering 28 fitness classes, all free with your membership," Bellotti said. "By adding ZUMBA, family ZUMBA, step aerobics and teen BODY PUMP, we now have something for all ages and abilities."Through the annual “Sustaining Campaign,” the Ridgway YMCA is able to bring programs like these to the community and surrounding areas. "Many of the YMCAs charge additional fees for many of their programs, but not us," Bellotti said. "We wanted to give the opportunity to all of our members to enjoy the classes that we have to offer at no additional fee. This was a turning point for us, and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome."Pick up a copy of the Friday, Feb. 17, 2012 edition of The Ridgway Record for more.
