BROCKPORT – The Horton Township Board of Supervisors announced receiving a positive audit for the 2011 financial year during Wednesday night's regular meeting.
The audit was conducted by township auditors Rita Thompson, Jennifer Wolfe and Daniel Lines.
Chairman Jeff Johnson read aloud a letter sent to the township from Lines.
"We have submitted the audit and financial report along with recommendations and possible improvements to the current system's record-keeping strategy," wrote Lines. "As auditors we are required to remain impartial and independent of political parties, personalities and policies. We are elected/appointed officials of the township and do not make policy regarding any township business. We are called in after the fact to analyze, review, observe, inspect and confirm the township's record.
"We found the books to be in excellent financial condition. The records are clear, concise and accurate. We appreciated secretary Dennis Thompson's cooperation and assistance in working with us in making required adjustments for accurate entries in our audit. Mr. Thompson's patience and diligence helped our committee to a much better performance in our audit."
