BROCKPORT – The Horton Township Board of Supervisors appointed a tax collector during their regular meeting Wednesday night.
Supervisors voted unanimously in favor of appointing H.A. Berkheimer as its local service tax collector.
Secretary Dennis Thompson noted that the Central Tax Bureau of Pennsylvania [CENTAX] had been previously collecting the township's taxes.
"This local service tax is the $52 a year tax," Thompson said. "We appointed Central Tax to collect it for us and as everybody knows Central Tax went belly up. Our tax committee appointed Berkheimer to collect the other tax for us, the wage tax, but we also need to appoint them to do our local service tax."
