ST. MARYS – The River 98.9 will once again be hosting the Second Annual Polar Sweet Express event sponsored by Ridgway BiLo and Northwest Savings Bank.
CAPSEA [Citizens Against Physical, Sexual and Emotional Abuse] Executive Director Billie Jo Weyant said the popular fundraising event is a one-stop shopping experience for all your Valentine's Day needs.
The event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Franklin Center in downtown St. Marys and will feature local vendors.
As an added bonus, all participants who donate an item from the CAPSEA Wish List can register to win prizes like a 50-inch flat-screen plasma HDTV; an authentic autographed Marc-Andre Fleury Pittsburgh Penguins jersey; two tickets to the Confederate and Kentucky Headhunters concert on March 3 at the St. Marys High School Auditorium; or four passes to the Holiday Valley Ski Resort in Ellicottville, N.Y.
Wish List items include: household items, cleaning supplies, paper products, food, gift cards for victims, and both drug store and children's needs.
For a detailed list of the Wish List visit The River 98.9 website at
Additional activities include, but are not limited to a silent auction and a "Dip Anything in Chocolate" station provided by Ridgway BiLo.
"All of the vendors and some folks who are not vendors are donating to the silent auction," said event director Paula Weyant. "Last year we had about 70 items donated and all proceeds benefits the CAPSEA shelter. We did very well on the silent auction."
Paula said that it is not too late for vendors to register.
To register call Paula at 834-0070 or Billie Jo at 772-3838.
