Severe flooding in Ridgway

Torrential downpour overnight throughout Elk County has closed or washed out several roadways.
St. Leo’s Catholic School was evacuated and shortly after 11 a.m. High-Rise residents were evacuated and taken to Central Fire Station along North Broad Street in Ridgway.
Firefighters were dispatched to Country Squirrel Outfitters where people were reportedly unable to get out along with Rite Aid where submerged vehicles were reported.
Water also went over a bridge on state Route 555 as emergency personnel closed that roadway.
Shortly after 11:30 the National Weather Service in State College reported the rain is mostly over for the day.
