The Ridgway Area School District Board of Directors approved a resolution to not raise taxes above the PDE [Public Department of Education] index rate for the 2012-2013 fiscal year.
According to board member Johna Holtz, the index rate for the district is 2.4 percent.
The approved resolution states that the district has determined that there will be no increase in the rate of any tax for the support of its public schools for the 2012-2013 fiscal year by more than the the index established by the PDE.
Directors also adopted a resolution delegating authority for collection of occupational privilege/local services tax of the school district to the Elk County Tax Collections Committee providing for certain repealers and validity.
In other business, high school principal Heather McMahon-Vargas will be conducting a driver's training survey for parents. The survey is designed to give the school district an idea of the need for students to have the training.
Vargas hopes the survey will be available online to parents before Christmas vacation.
"It tallies all of the information for us," Vargas said.
The issue of making a driver's education class available to students was brought up by board member William Seely during November's regular school board meeting.
