Ruth Catherine Yates [Blose]

August 28, 2012

Ruth Catherine Yates [Blose] entered into peace Monday, Aug. 20, 2012 at her home outside of Loganton surrounded by family. The date of her passing was a very special date to Ruth, it being her wedding anniversary.
Ruth was born to Murray E. and Isabelle X. [Hice] Blose in DuBois on Dec. 29, 1925. She graduated from Strong Vincent High School in Erie where she grew up before moving to Johnsonburg. There she met and married the love of her life Sydney D. Yates. Throughout her life Ruth volunteered for many organizations; Cub Scout Den leader and Brownie/Girl Scout leader in New Underwood, S.D.; The Catholic Woman's Group, a catechism teacher and The Brothers of the Good Shepherd in Albuquerque, N.M. She was a proud military wife for 26 years, during these years they lived in several states while making lifelong friendships. Ruth was a loving stay at home mother to four children. Ruth and her husband together shared in many endeavors from running a local small town newspaper, owning and managing rental properties, operating Syd's Satellite Service. When her husband retired from the Air Force, they settled back in their hometown of Johnsonburg. Ruth took courses at Indiana University while she worked at the Dickinson Mental Health Center in Ridgway. After retirement she and her husband built their dream home outside of Loganton. Ruth was known to all of us as Nana. Family and her pets were the most important things to her. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Lock Haven.
Ruth is survived by three children, Ronald [Candace] Yates of San Marcos, Texas, Marilyn [Ward] Keller of Loganton and Connie Biddinger of Riverside; eight grandchildren, Donn [Maggie] Yates, Erica Yates, Rachel Yates, David [Beth] Keller, Brandy [David] Grove, Megan [Lonnie] Hoey, Travis Biddinger and Amanda Prechtel; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both her parents; her husband of 55 years, Sydney Yates, who died June 24, 1999; two brothers Francis and Murray Blose Jr.; an infant son who died at birth; and son Donald Yates.
Ruth was laid to rest next to her husband Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012 in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Rosencrans.
