The Ridgway Rotary will be hosting its first annual Quilt Show fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Udarbe Complex along South Street in Ridgway.
The Quilt Show is free and open to the public, and coincides with the Ridgway-Elk County Chamber of Commerce Flavors of Fall festival. During the festival residents are encouraged to stop in at the Quilt Show which features over 75 quilts created by residents throughout the county.
"We have all kinds of quilts that people have lent us to show," said Rotarian Linda Assalone Holtz. "We have everything from seasonal, holiday quilts to traditional to very modern quilts and it's a beautiful room so it will show up nicely."
Tickets can be purchased during the show for a chance to win a king-sized wildlife-themed quilt that was constructed by members of the community. Tickets can also be purchased at the Welcome Center and at participating businesses until Dec. 20 when it will be given to a lucky winner. Early this summer, over 50 participants picked up a kit from participating businesses to create their own block of quilt. Each block has the participant's named embroidered on it.
