Robert J. Yonker

Robert J. Yonker, 53, of 231 High Ave., Ridgway, died Saturday, April 16, 2011, at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center in Erie following a brief illness.
He was born August 12, 1957, in Ridgway, son of Darrell H. and Lois M. (Kelley) Yonker, who survive.
He had resided in Ridgway all of his life and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. He was an Eagle Scout with Troop 93, earned a black belt in karate, was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved his music. He was a 1975 graduate of Ridgway High School. He had been employed by Elk County General Hospital, Keystone Carbon and Carbone of America.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Rita M. Gardner and her husband John of Ridgway, and Mary K. Smith and her husband David of Kane; two brothers, William F. Yonker and his wife Karen of Ridgway, and Thomas E. Yonker and his wife Sandy of St. Marys; several nieces and nephews; and an aunt, Kathleen Griech and her husband Francis of Ridgway.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Herbert and Minnie Yonker and by maternal grandparents Frank and Rita Kelley.
A Memorial Mass for Robert J. Yonker will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Wednesday at noon. Officiating will be Fr. Brian E. Vossler, pastor. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Ridgway Y.M.C.A.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home of Ridgway.
