Ridgway's Students of the Month honored

The Ridgway Area School District's Students of the Month were honored during Tuesday night's school board meeting.
Kindergartner Savannah Kite was selected as the elementary school Student of the Month. Savannah said she was very excited to receive the award. When she grows up, she said, she wants to become an artist because she likes to draw. If she could do anything to change the world she would recycle. Her teacher Laurie Burkett said Savannah is always on task, always polite, well behaved and is always a good friend. She has become an excellent student and a fantastic reader.
Kindergartner Ryan Arminini was also selected as the elementary school Student of the Month. Ryan said he was proud to receive the award. His teacher Laurie Burkett said he pays attention in class, always follows directions and has become a wonderful reader and a fabulous student.
Sixth-grader Abigail Matos was selected as the middle school Student of the Month. Her favorite classes are science and math. Abigail loves science because she gets to experiment and math because of the games.
Abigail said she loves coming to school because she gets to see her friends on a daily basis. She also enjoys dance and playing softball. She is a member of Stand Tall and participates in the Scrapbooking Club. Her hobbies include coloring, painting, the outdoors, writing, riding bikes and four-wheelers.
Her future plans are to attend culinary school to become a cake decorator or go on to college to become a teacher.
10th-grader Katlynne Fields was selected as the high school Student of the Month. Katie's favorite classes are French and English. She loves coming to school because "every day is different."
She is a member of show choir, band, marching band, cheerleading and participates in the school plays. She enjoys reading and singing.
Her future plans are to attend culinary school to specialize in exotic foods. She is most proud of her ability to play five instruments.
