Ridgway wrestling falls to Port Allegany in home opener
Ridgway wrestling lost 60-3 to Port Allegany in the Elkers' home opener Tuesday night at Ridgway Area High School. "Port Allegany's a great team," Ridgway coach David Fordoski said. "They have a lot of upperclassmen and they wrestled like that. They have a lot of mat experience. A lot of our kids are just starting to get their experience. They were able in a lot of the matches to get that extra takedown or the extra thing right at the end in the win. It's disheartening sitting on this side, seeing it happen but it's part of the learning process." Port Allegany won four matches via pinfall and six matches by decision. The Gators also had three forfeits. Fordoski said he was encouraged about the number of matches that went the full six minutes. "We're always preaching 'Don't ever give up.' We're not going to," Fordoski said. "I'm glad some of the stuff from our practice room is starting to get out on the mat."
