The Ridgway Lady Elkers lost 7-1 to Brockway on Senior Day.
Breezy Mazur and Bri Stenta were the two seniors on the Ridgway softball team this season.
"They've been here all four years, both of them," Ridgway coach Gary Gerber II said. "They're both great kids, they work hard. It's been a pleasure of ours to work with them and see them grow from freshmen to seniors. Hopefully, we can send them out with a couple wins. I can't say enough about their leadership. Bri was one of our captains this year and taking a lot of pressure at shortstop. Breezy was our designated hitter. Two great kids and I can't say anything bad about either one of them."
Ridgway scored its lone run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Melissa Wehler reached on a 2-out singled and reached second on a passed ball. Stenta then plated Wehler with a single.
After a scoreless first inning, Brockway took the lead with a pair of runs in the second. Ann Moyer was walked and reached second on a sacrifice bunt. Hailey Adams was hit by a pitch and Sara Guilyard singled to plate Moyer. Adams was thrown out at third on the play. Guilyard would score on a Ridgway throwing error to make the lead 2-0.
Zoe Hawkins reached with a single in the third inning and after a strikeout and a single from Savannah Brosky, Juliana Vokes was walked to load the bases. Moyer grounded out to score Hawkins.
Brosky tripled with one out in the fifth and courtesy runner Gabby Bart scored as Vokes reached on an error.
Down just 4-0, Ridgway had a strong chance in the fifth but left the bases loaded. Jenni Thomas was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. After two fielder's choices, Stenta singled and Ashley Viglione reached on a Brockway error. But Brockway pitcher Alex Wright was able to get a groundout to end the inning with the bases still loaded.
"We got kids in scoring position, we didn't get that timely hit," Gerber II said. "We had the bases loaded there in the middle of the game and didn't get that hit, that would have given us momentum. I thought we hit the ball well. We made some errors, especially on some of their bunts. That's what we'll work on and find out who we play in districts."
Adams singled to lead off the sixth inning. Guilyard squared around to bunt and would reach on a 3-base error, scoring courtesy runner Leeann Crawford. Guilyard scored on a groundball as she beat the throw to home. Wright would score on a groundout from Hawkins to make the Brockway lead 7-0.
Ridgway has concluded the regular season and will compete in the district playoffs scheduled for next week with an opponent, time and site to be determined.
