Ridgway retailers extend business hours as part of initiative

March 1, 2012

Photo by Heather Cherry – Downtown Ridgway will be hosting First Friday, an initiative to encourage visitors to Ridgway on Friday evenings. March 2, 2012 will feature a March madness theme.

Friday, March 2 will feature March Madness in downtown Ridgway as part of the First Friday initiative established by the Main Street program. First Friday encourages retail shops in downtown to remain open longer on Friday evenings.
“We are encouraging those who do not have extended hours to do so at least one time a month,” Main Street Manager, Michelle Bogacki said. “We hope to get a little bit of a night life in Ridgway.”
First Friday will feature a theme to coincide with the seasons. “Within the calendar year we have attached themes to each first Friday,” Bogacki said. “This month is March Madness.”
Looking ahead, Bogacki says April will feature Good Friday. Upcoming themes will be culinary and curbside, the annual wine festival, Fourth of July, and winter holiday festivities. The summer months may even offer a little more.
“Through the summer months, I hope to add some entertainment in the gazebo,” Bogacki said.
