Photo by Vanessa Eozzo – Joseph Bell, editor of The Ridgway Record and The Kane Republican, was recently recognized with a second-place Keystone Press Award for best series in a column, which consisted of three commentaries published on several local topics in The Ridgway Record from March through June 2011.

In the past five years, The Ridgway Record and The Kane Republican Editor Joseph Bell has acclimated himself to the community by covering everything from news to sports, and throughout those experiences has formed relationships with a wide variety of individuals and organizations. These bonds led Bell to pen numerous commentaries, three of which were recently recognized as Keystone Press Award winners from the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association (PNA).
The columns garnering accolades were those memorializing the late Johnsonburg Area High School football and wrestling coach Tom Launer; the restoration efforts at St. Leo Magnus Roman Catholic Church; and the dismissal of girls' basketball coach Mike Zilkofski by the Johnsonburg Area School Board.
