Dr. Ian Redmount, a Ridgway native and graduate of Ridgway Area High School, recently authored a physics textbook titled "12 Problems in Physics." Redmount is currently a professor of physics at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Mo.
The textbook, which spans 12 chapters, is centered around applications and concepts necessary to solving classical physics problems.
In the preface to the textbook, Dr. Redmount writes: "It is based on an approach to the two-semester Engineering Physics course at Saint Louis University that I have explored and developed over the last 15 years. Rather than attempt comprehensive coverage of all the topics appropriate to such a course, I select a small number of more-or-less realistic problems to be explored in as much depth the preparation of the students will allow."
