Ridgway minor league all-stars lose at Brookville

BROOKVILLE – The Ridgway minor league all-stars had its District 10 tournament run come to an end after an 18-4, 4-inning loss to Brookville Saturday afternoon at the Brookville Area Little League complex. The game was payed under sweltering conditions with temperatures at approximately 95 degrees with the heat and humidity contributing to storms which delayed the start of the game and another set which led to a second-inning delay. Once the game got started, Brookville's bats were just as hot as the weather, scoring 12 runs in the second inning after a 3-run first frame. Brookville led 3-1 after the first inning and Brookville's leadoff hitter Seth Dunkle opened the inning with a single. Kyle Macbeth and Jack Krug walked. Aaron Park, Logan Byerly and Wyatt Griffin each walked with the bases loaded for a trio of runs for Brookville. David Cable hit into a fielder's choice for Brookville which scored Byerly. Bryce Kunzelman walked to score Griffin and Dunkle again provided a big hit for Brookville with a 3-run double which pushed Brookville's lead to 11-1. Krug, Byerly and Cole LaBenne each had RBI singles while Aaron Park roped an RBI triple to close out the inning as Brookville led 15-1. After a 2-run Brookville third inning, Ridgway began to start hitting once again. Haydn Yeager and Matt Dush singled to lead off the third. Zack Zameroski flew out to second but Yeager was able to score after Brookville made a pair of errors as they tried to double Dush off of first base. Jake Wickett then tripled which would easily score Dush for Ridgway's third run of the game. Greg Simon then doubled to bring Wickett around for another Ridgway run. Simon was 2 for 2 with one RBI for Ridgway. Ridgway's run in the first came as Wickett hit a sacrifice fly to score Zameroski. Zameroski had reached base on a 1-out single. Dush, Zameroski, Wickett and Yeager each had hits for the Ridgway minor leaguers. Those four also scored one run apiece.
