Ridgway man dies while ice fishing

Authorities have confirmed the death of Leslie Haas, a 64-year-old Ridgway man who was reportedly ice fishing at the Ridgway Reservoir.
Haas reportedly fell through the ice at some time between noon and 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23.
Crews were dispatched to the reservoir as Elkland Search and Rescue and other authorities responded shortly after 10 p.m.
A rescue diver reportedly retrieved Haas' body around midnight, according to published reports. According to a report by the Ridgway-based Pa. State Police, it appears that Haas fell through broken ice and could not free himself.
In addition to PSP and Elkland Search and Rescue, the Pa. Game Commission, Pa. Fish and Boat Commission, Ridgway Borough Police Department, Ridgway Volunteer Fire Department and the Elk County Coroner also responded to the scene.
The investigation continues.
