Ridgway hosts annual Invitational
RIDGWAY — Ridgway cross country hosted the annual Ridgway Invitational Saturday morning at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School. A new meet record was shattered in the girls varsity race as Regan Rome of Dallas finished with a time of 18:15, breaking the old record of 19:03 which was set by Dani Kocjancic of Kane in 2008. Kennedy Weisner of Elk County Catholic also would have broken the old meet record with her runner-up finish at 18:41. Adair Gennocro of St. Marys was third at 19:04 and Victoria Dippold took fourth for ECC with a time of 19:37. "In the girls race, it was pretty neat to have three of the top runners in the state in Elk County," Elk County Catholic coach Wee J. Fernan said. Regan certainly ran well, shattering the course record by 48 seconds, but I'm also pretty sure both Kennedy and Adair will have more to say, speaking through their performances, in a few more weeks."Kristin Boyer was the top Kane finisher with a time of 20:44 for an eighth-place mark.
