Ridgway Homecoming parade tonight at 5 p.m.

Ridgway Area School District Homecoming week activities continue this evening with the annual Homecoming parade on Main Street beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29.
The parade will feature class floats from grades 6-12, the Mighty Elker Marching Band, the Ridgway Area High School cheerleaders and the 10 members of the 2017 Ridgway Area High School Homecoming Court.  
The parade route this year includes Water Street to Main Street, then proceeding to North Broad Street and down to the Ridgway Firemen’s Carnival Lot. A celebrity judging panel will conduct float judging in front of Northwest Savings Bank.
The announcement of the winning class floats will take place at halftime of the football game. The public is encouraged to watch the parade from points along the route. Class float themes include “Moana,” “Peter Pan,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Monsters Inc.,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Up” and “Toy Story.”
Parade staging will begin at 4:30 p.m. tonight in the Water Street area.
Prior to the parade, an alumni tailgate party will take place beginning at 3:30 p.m. on the tennis courts near Memorial Field.
The Ridgway Elkers will be hosting the undefeated Bradford Owls in an important Allegheny Mountain League South Division football clash. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. The Ridgway Area High School’s 2017 Homecoming Queen will be announced at halftime.
