Ridgway boys basketball routs Curwensville, 70-31

January 22, 2013

Tony Leithner takes a short jumper over Trey Rauckhorst (21) and Tanner Elensky (12) during a 70-31 for the Elkers. Leithner had five points in the win.

The weather outside was bitter cold but Ridgway's three-point shooting was anything but against Curwensville.
The Elkers used a barrage of eight three-pointers against the Golden Tide in a 70-31 victory over their AML South counterparts Tuesday night at Ridgway Area High School.
"That's another thing we haven't got against zones," Ridgway coach Anthony Allegretto said. "We're not getting that guy on the skip pass to hit the 3-pointer. We're not getting that guy at the top of the key when they take the pressure off to hit the 3-pointer. Especially in the second and third quarters we got a lot of those. It was nice to see. Maybe we can get some guys shooting and get some confidence back."
The Elkers started the game with a 4-0 lead after two Jesse Reynolds free throws and a Tony Leithner field goal.
