The Ridgway Area School District's Students of the Month were honored during Tuesday night's school board meeting.
Fifth-grader Jocelyn Viglione was selected as the Elementary School Student of the Month. Jocelyn said she was very happy to be selected because it was her first time. Her future plans are to become a hairstylist and "maybe a teacher."
If she could change the world she would help to make it a better place by cleaning up litter and helping others when they are sick.
Her teacher, Marcia Raubenstrauch, said Jocelyn is a joy to teach and always has an awesome attitude. She is a hard worker and models good behavior.
Fifth-grader Jacob Reynolds was also selected as the Elementary School Student of the Month.
Jacob is the son of Lisa and Matthew Reynolds. He said being selected makes him feel good because it is also his first time.
His favorite subject is math because it comes easy to him. His future plans are to attend college to play baseball and study engineering.
If he could change the world he would hold a worldwide fundraiser to help the people of South America.
His teacher, Marcia Raubenstrauch, said Jacob is a model student who always works very hard.
Eighth-grader Gabrielle Barclay was selected as the Middle School Student of the Month.
Gabrielle's favorite class is Algebra I because it "comes easy" to her. She is involved in basketball, volleyball and track.
As a freshman, she plans on participating in cross country.
She was recognized for Principal's Honor Roll and is also a member of the Principal's Gold Club Award.
Her hobbies include: hunting, fishing, reading, drawing, walking, running, photography and scrapbooking.
