Richard L. Frederick

Richard L. Frederick, 64, of Hector, N.Y., died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012.  
He was born June 1, 1948, in Ridgway, son of the late John and Alma (Yonkie) Frederick.
On Sept. 29, 1995, in St. Marys, he married Cathy (Mosier) Frederick, his loving wife of almost 17 years.
Dick lived in the Ridgway and Kersey areas until he moved to Hector in 1999. He worked as a mechanic, truck driver and equipment operator for Doyle Vineyard Management in Hammondsport. He loved hunting, fishing and racing. 
He served in the US Army on the DMZ in Korea during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a Class A member of the American Legion Fox Post 511 of Dagus Mines.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Darren (Teresa) Frederick of Clarion; a stepson, Robert (Olivia) Mosier of Kersey; a stepdaughter, Dawn (Bob) Mitchell of Ridgway; six sisters, Hazel Taylor of Austin, Esther Lentz of Montour Falls, N.Y., Grace Williams of Emporium, Kathryn Kline of Kersey, Doris (Ray) Haag of Punxsutawney, and Marge (Jack) Rhines of DuBois, PA; 15 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Shirley Rhines, Marion Salvatore, and Alice Lang; a brother, Clarence Frederick; and a stepson, Jimmy Mosier.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Richard L. Frederick will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m. at the Hector Presbyterian Church, Rte. 414, Hector, N.Y., followed by interment with military honors at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at the Kersey Methodist Church, Kersey, on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Valois-Logan-Hector Fire Dept. or to the American Cancer Society.
