Residents prepare for St. Leo's Festival

Area residents are preparing for the 2012 St. Leo's Summer Festival scheduled for Aug. 10, 11, and 12 at the Ridgway Firemen's Lot in Ridgway.
Booths will open at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10 and a chicken barbecue sale will begin at 5:30 p.m. and run while supplies last. "The Avenue," comprised of former members of "Eclectic Radio" and "Mr. Meaner" will perform from 6:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.
Booths will open at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 with Kids Playland open from 5-9 p.m. The Green Eggs Band is scheduled to perform from 6:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.
On Sunday, Aug. 12, car show registration begins at 9 a.m. There will be cash awards for first, second, and third place, as well as a "Longest Distance Award."
The "Best of Show" award will be presented in memory of Ernie Oldani.
The judging starts at 1 p.m. and awards will be presented at 5 p.m. Classes include: Class A-up to 1948; Class B-1949-1960; Class C-1961-1973; Class D-1974-1986; Class E-1987-1999; Class F-2000-2009; Class G-Street Rods to 1948; Class H-Modified 1949-1960; Class I-Modified 1961-1973; Class J-Modified 1974-1986; Class K-Modified 2000-Present; Class M-Trucks Stock; Class N-Trucks Modified; Class O-Sports Cars; Class P-Tuners; Class Q-Stock Motorcycles; Class R-Modified Motorcycles.
All vehicles must be driven onto the show field. All non-stock items except tires and safety equipment will be considered modified. A fire extinguisher in the vehicle may be used to break ties.
John Moore and the Friday Niters will perform at 10 a.m. Sunday morning followed by the Polka Mass at 11 a.m. Kids Playland will be open from noon to 6 p.m. and all booths open at noon. Bob Calla as Elvis will perform from 12:30-2:30 p.m. and Sammy Slicker and the Blackjacks will play from 3-7 p.m. Drawings will be pulled at 7 p.m.
