JOHNSONBURG – The newest addition to Johnsonburg is Cindy’s Resale Shop, owned by Cindy Williams. The shop has brightened the downtown of Johnsonburg as Williams has attractive window displays and welcoming benches out front.
Williams’ store carries new and gently used mint condition items ranging from women’s sizes zero to plus, men’s sizes small to five extra-large, children’s clothing and items, designer perfumes, gowns, glassware, shoes, jewelry and accessories.
With the undetermined economy and lack of affordable clothing stores in the area, Williams saw a need for a resale shop and wanted to keep busy.
“It is kind of a depressed area, and it is more reasonable to have a resale shop,” Williams said. “Johnsonburg needed a place like this.”
In addition to offering the area affordable merchandise, Williams is also an advocate for local artisans and businesses.
“We work together to promote other businesses,” Williams said. “I have business cards available so whenever someone, especially someone from out of town stops in they can see we have a lot to offer in our area.”
Williams’ shop has had a positive yield. It has also become a meeting place for many people to stop in and visit.
“It is a very relaxed atmosphere,” Williams said. “People stop in to visit because it has become a kind of meeting place and they look forward to coming down.”
As far as the future success of the shop goes, Williams is hoping to eventually expand.
“I hope to be here for a while,” she said. “Eventually I want to have more racks and more merchandise.”
