Recognizing child abuse prevention month

April 1, 2014

April is recognized nationally as Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time dedicated to acknowledging the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect, and to promote the social and emotional well-being of children and families.
These points were stressed Tuesday morning as Nancy Baker, director of Elk County's Children and Youth Services (CYS) department reviewed the importance of spreading the awareness.
"I think people lose sight of the fact that in working with the community, we can all play a part in this, both for children's well-being and for strengthening families," Baker said.
