Raymond LaVerne Allen

Raymond LaVerne Allen, 83, of 42 School Street, East Kane, died Friday, April 8, 2011, at his residence.
Born Jan. 14, 1928, in Medix Run, he was a son of Walter Bliss and Bertha Edna Peters Allen. On Dec. 28, 1990, in Kane, he married Christy A. Milford, who survives.
Before his retirement, Mr. Allen had worked at several places, including Wilcox Railroad, Wilcox Tannery, Holgates and then Kane Manufacturing from which he retired.
He attended Wilcox Schools and also helped in the building of the Assembly of God Church in East Kane.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Randy Glen (Kim) Allen and Gary Lee (Tina) Allen, both of Kane and Raymond Charles “RC” Shaffer of Indiana, Pa.; three daughters, Marcy Lynn (Doug) McKinley of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Chris Ann (Bob) Howard and Amy Marie (Dave) Cressley, both of Kane; his former wife, Ida Mae (Zimmerman) Allen; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, are a son, Barry LaVerne Allen; two brothers, Elwood “Woody” Allen and Glen Walter Allen; and two sisters, Lola Kanski and Audra Patterson.
Friends and family may attend a memorial service at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at the First Church of God, 204 N. Fraley Street, with The Rev. Chad Troup, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be at Wilcox Cemetery.
