Rape case against Mt. Jewett man goes to jury

SMETHPORT – It's now up to the jury to decide the fate of a Mt. Jewett man charged with rape.
Paul Ray Swank, 33, of 7 Chestnut St., Mt. Jewett, is accusing a raping a former Mt. Jewett woman. She was 26 years old at the time of the alleged rape on Nov. 2, 2012 at a secluded area near Hutchins.
The Kane Republican does not publish the names of alleged sexual assault victims.
Two days of testimony in the trial at the McKean County Courthouse in Smethport wound up Tuesday afternoon.
District Attorney Ray Learn, the prosecutor, and Smethport attorney Jim Miller, the defense lawyer, both rested their cases Tuesday.
