Rams use defense to defeat Bradford

January 3, 2013

Quinn Luhr spins in the post as Matt Yurkewicz (4) and David Ackerman (20) defend. Luhr led all scorers with 15 points as the Rams won 46-30 over the Bradford Owls.

JOHNSONBURG – The old cliche says "defense wins championships."
For Johnsonburg boys basketball, defense also won Wednesday's game against Bradford.
The Rams held Bradford to four points in the last quarter and a half en route to a 46-30 victory over the Owls Wednesday night at Johnsonburg Area High School.
"The defense in the second half, we came alive in the second half," Johnsonburg coach Bill Shuey said. "The first half, I think we were just going through the motions. Bradford didn't quit, they gave us everything we would want on our home court. It was a real good test for us. Luckily, we came out ahead and it was because of our defense."
